Kayaking for conservation

Iconic throughout the world, Sydney Harbour is home to more fish species than you’ll find in the Mediterranean Sea.

Sadly, it’s also one of the most polluted waterways in Australia, with around 1.5 tonnes of plastic finding its way into the harbour every hour.

This horrific statistic makes one of our greatest icons also one of the dirtiest!

Seeing this plastic pollution firsthand, we were determined to make a difference. Leading by example, our guides have made a commitment to Take 3 from the Sea—collecting at least three pieces of rubbish every time they hit the water.

Wanting to bring this plastic plight to everyone’s attention, we developed our Clean-up Paddle—an opportunity for paddlers to create memorable moments while making a difference.

Our harbour heroes learn about the harbours waterways and hear stories about the passionate locals committed to protecting them.

With Sydney’s spectacular icons—the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House in the background, paddlers fill their buckets with rubbish, playing a part in protecting and conserving Sydney Harbour.

Grab your partner, your family or your work colleagues and join us on the harbour for a Clean-up Paddle, where you get to be part of the solution.

We will arm you with buckets and sieves to collect rubbish while enjoying a morning paddle on the harbour with $15 per kayaker going to local conservation projects. At the end of the 2022 financial year, we reached just over $25,000 in funds raised for our local conservation projects!

Thanks to all of the amazing paddlers that have joined us on Sydney Harbour for a Clean-up Paddle — we couldn’t have done it without you!
